Animal Rights

In case you don't know it, I love animals. I believe that God expects us to care for "the beasts of the field" not to torture and neglect them. I am a meat-eater, but I do want to believe that the animals I end up eating have lived a happy life and died a quick and relatively painless death. I don't want to know that the steak I barbequed on the weekend came from an animal that was still alive while its hooves were being cut off, do you?

Furthermore I am disdainful of people who have pets and don't take good care of them. Like the person who owns a horse just to be able to say "I own a horse", then keeps that animal in a small stall, seldom riding it or grooming it or even treating it with all the love and care God intended for it. Or that guy who buys a ferret and then keeps it caged up and seldom plays with it or keeps it supplied with clean litter, good shelter and fresh water and food. Many animals, ferrets included, are a group animal, that is, they need the company of their own kind.

All animals kept as pets require loving, nurturing attention from their owners, they require fresh, clean water available at all times, and good, healthy food specifically designed for them, and medical attention when they are sick. Certain animals, like dogs, also require social training and licensing. All dogs and cats should be spayed and neutered, if they are not breeding animals, but pets. If you aren't prepared to learn what your particular pet is all about, and what kind of interaction and care it requires, and if you aren't prepared to give that animal the care and nurturing it requires, then I state emphatically: "Don't buy that animal for a pet, and if you currently own one for a pet, give it away to someone who is better able to care for it as God intended." Animals are not 'objects', they are living entities with feelings and needs, and God requires that His Children take good care of his animals. End of story!

Human Rights

Even though I am a born-again Christian, I believe that of all the life forms that God created, mankind (and I do mean 'man'kind!) is one of His least perfect creations. Now why would I believe that? Well it happens that I am a woman and like all women, I am treated as less than equal by all the male-dominated societies in the world. Of course, because I live in the United States of America, I have it much better than most women in the world. For instance, the Zimbabwe goverment recently ratified a court ruling which states that unmarried Zimbabwe women have the status of minors (that is, women are considered equivalent to children, when we all know that MEN are the ones who never grow up).

Here's what Amnesty International has to say about human rights violations in Zimbabwe and also here in the United States of America. What! You thought Americans were perfect?

Mumia Insanity

One caveat: I disagree with Amnesty International and the celeb-fools like Ed Asner* who think Mumia Abu-Jamal was sentenced to death based on his RACE and not on his ACTIONS. Just because a man is charismatic and verbally coherent, doesn't mean he couldn't commit atrocities. Just because that man is of African heritage, doesn't mean he "must be innocent", judged guilty by a racist white jury. You see, unlike Ed Asner and his ilk, I actually read the court transcripts of Mumia's trail and I believe that he is a coldblooded killer who was fairly sentenced to death for murdering one of our Guardians of Society. If you don't believe me, then you read the court transcripts and decide for yourself.

* Ed Asner once cut me off in Beverly Hills traffic, then flipped me the bird... that's how 'intelligent' HE is!

HOWEVER, please don't be like Antioch College students (and staff) who keep ranting/raving for this killer's release or retrial before you read the court transcripts. Remember, The Truth Shall Set You Free, not 'hearsay' or 'hormonal rants/raves'... only the Truth. For instance, on 9/24/99 the Antioch College "rag" printed a story about Mumia claiming he was 'framed' for the murder of Daniel Faulkner in 1983. However, (as Mr. Faulkner's family, witnesses to his murder, Philadelphia Guardians of Law and Order and everyone else in Philly at the time knows) the FACT is that Daniel was murdered in 1981 which proves just how much 'truth' can be found in that college's 'journalistic offerings'. Further, this same "rag" printed another editorial wherein they stated how 'thrilled and honored (?!?)' the college was to have for their commencement speakers Mumia Abu-Jamal and some woman who claims she's 'a man trapped in a woman's body'. I don't know about you, but I think God makes each person to be exactly what they are physically designed to be: either a man OR a woman. The only people out there who can claim to be a 'man trapped in a woman's body' would be those very few folks that God created as hermaphrodites. (Hermaphrodites are also the only people who can legitimately sing that old song "I took myself out on a date, and while I'm not easy, I had me that night and when I woke up in the morning I was still there!" <heh heh heh>)

Oh by the way, Mumia now claims he doesn't believe in the death penalty even though he apparently believed in it the night he murdered Daniel Faulkner!

'Mumia Madness' Must Stop.
